Chad combines traditional forging techniques with a modern understanding of performance to create blades that are both personal and built for real use. The end result is a one of a kind piece—a blade made specifically for you.
Forged Blades
At Black Hog Forge, forged blades are built from raw steel through heat, pressure, and precision. Each piece is shaped at the anvil, allowing for greater control over strength, structure, and performance. Using high-carbon and Damascus steels, Chad creates blades with character, durability, and a foundation rooted in traditional craftsmanship. The result is a blade that’s not just made—but forged to perform.
Custom Damascus
For those looking to create something truly their own, Black Hog Forge offers custom Damascus billets for individual projects. Each billet is forged with a minimum of 100 layers and can be built up to 300 layers, depending on the desired pattern and performance. Chad works closely with you to ensure the steel fits your vision, whether you're forging your own blade or commissioning a one-of-a-kind piece. The result is high-quality Damascus with the depth, strength, and character your project demands.
Stock Removal Blades
Black Hog Forge also offers stock removal culinary blades crafted from 80CrV2 steel, known for its toughness, edge retention, and reliability in the kitchen. Each knife is precision-ground and heat treated to achieve a fine edge geometry suited for slicing, prep work, and daily use. This process allows for consistent performance while maintaining a focus on balance, control, and feel in hand. Every blade is backed by lifetime sharpening and maintenance, ensuring it continues to perform for years to come.
The Bladesmith Basics Experience
Step into the forge and spend a full day learning the craft of bladesmithing firsthand. This one-day class runs approximately 8 hours and includes lunch, guiding you through the process of forging your own blade from raw steel to finished piece. By the end of the day, you’ll walk away with a completed knife featuring a Paracord handle—and the knowledge of how it was built. Each class is limited to a maximum of 4 people.

The Full Forge Experience
The Full Forge Experience takes you beyond the basics into a deeper, more customized build. Over two full days, you’ll forge your blade with a wider range of design options, then complete it with a fitted and shaped wood or synthetic handle of your choosing. Each day runs approximately 9AM–4PM and includes lunch. This class gives you more time, more control, and a finished knife that reflects your personal build from start to finish. Each class is limited to a maximum of 4 people.

The Forged Damascus Experience
Love Damascus and want to forge your own? The Forged Damascus Experience is a two-day, hands-on class where you’ll create a 90+ layer Damascus blade from start to finish. You’ll learn the process of stacking, forging, and shaping layered steel, then complete your knife with a full wood or synthetic handle of your choice from Black Hog’s material stock. Each day runs approximately 8AM–6PM and includes lunch. You’ll leave with a finished Damascus blade—and the knowledge of how it was built. Each class is limited to a maximum of 2 people.

The Full Forge Experience
